Meet Amelia Vallone

ABOUT AMELIA VALLONE LOGAN, Ph.D.

Ever since I can remember, I have been interested in colors.  I love to share my extraordinary gift for colors and help my clients to find the perfect color palette for their homes. The difference between a good interior design and a great interior design is in the colors. Because colors are very subjective, I explore colors with my clients extensively until I find the perfect color scheme for each of them in their own home. Once we have accomplished this major step, we can proceed to the next steps in the home decor.

We specialize in one thing… beautiful decorating. Whether you enjoy surrounding yourself with time honored traditional design, or inspired, modern cutting edge couture, it’s our ultimate goal to design spaces that reflect your taste, personality and lifestyle.

I find it very rewarding to work with my clients in Northern Virginia to help them make their home and lives more beautiful. Whether it is renovating an entire room for that graduation party, or turning a space into your favorite reading corner by the fireplace, or finding the right accessory that will make a room look fabulous, you will find our professional input invaluable. Our personal touch turns an ordinary room into an extraordinary room. If you are ready to pursue your dream:

Amelia Vallone and Decorating Den Reston

The Vallone family has been in Italy for over 400 years and they are still producing some of the top up-scale wines. My European background has inspired a great love for art and languages.  Having studied history of art since I was 13 years old, I have travelled extensively in Europe and visited many of the most well-known museums.  In addition to English, I speak German, Spanish, Italian and French.

I fell in love with Northern Virginia over twenty years ago when I moved to Reston with my family. I design in my Reston studio overlooking oaks and maples, with my beloved Bach, Schubert and Chopin in the background. During the weekends, I love to explore the wine country, the stone walls of Middleburg and the polo matches in The Plains–absorbing the rich history of the region. I also love spending time with my son during his Boy Scout activities in Great Falls, VA.

I grew up breathing design and architecture from the Tudor style of my grandfather to the Contemporary style of my father, and learned the basics of business working with my father in his company. My curiosity for science and my attention to detail drove me to earn a Masters and a Ph.D. in earth sciences, and led to a fellowship from the German Academic Exchange Service to study in Berlin. I worked at the Smithsonian Institution for over a decade before going back to my roots and returning to school to study Architectural Design at the Design Ecademy in London, UK. I started my own business in Interior Design through Decorating Den Interiors, working throughout Northern Virginia. I am a member of the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau (A+ rating).

While it was a very enriching experience working at the Smithsonian Institution, I am an artist and an entrepreneur at heart. In the end my father was right–sono una Vallone. –Amelia
